FOLK/PUNK

It has always been an interesting struggle for many songwriters to decide what genre their music fits into. This has been very true for me and I have sort of hated having to label myself...until my recent appearance on The Working Musician when host Roger Zee called my music folk/punk.  I have never really fit into the folk category because my music has been more rock based and my lyrics have a tendency towards sarcastic and dark with occasional curses.  Acoustic/Rock never felt quite right to me.  Punk may have fit a lot of my lyrics, but not the music so much.  So folk/punk it is...just feels right!

"...she has a tougher, punk attitude in a still fairly poppy style...Cagney’s songs are rock songs, but they’re lead by her acoustic guitar. It’s not a style that you hear all that often honestly...lyrics are real"
