I was very fortunate to be able to attend the Jersey Acoustic Awards in Asbury Park, NJ yesterday where I heard so many amazing performers and writers and I was inspired. This is an amazing network of talented musicians who support and encourage each other. The fans that support these NJ musicians are die hard and dedicated. Writing, rehearsing, booking and so forth can all leave a person feeling kind of isolated, but finding this community of musicians in my home state is just plain awesome. I woke up this morning with two thoughts in my head:
1) - Here is another reason I am proud to be from NJ (yes-there are more) 2) - Why is it that just about every store you go into plays music from the 70's that we have heard billions of times? There is so much music out there right now that is fantastic. Nothing against older music, but how about playing some new music sometimes? What about a local music night in stores where only local artists are played. Hey - if it is the local people who are supporting a store, perhaps that store should be supporting it's community too! In other news I am planning the EP release, tour and video....details coming soon. |
